Casino coming to Glasgow Station? - 2004-02-12
A huge casino, bar, nightclub and restaurant complex could be constructed under one of Scotland's biggest and most historic railway stations, it was reported yesterday. Developers may transform the space below Glasgow Central station, which was used by a car and van rental firm and a car park company, into a large entertainment facility.
Launched in 1879, the station was expanded between 1901 and 1906 and is now a listed establishment. Rather than detracting from the region, a casino complex could aid in restoring the architectural fortunes of the waterfront area.
