Amendment could permit non-Indian casinos in N.Y. - 2004-02-12
A proposed constitutional amendment to permit non-Indian casinos in New York is part of a high-level method to leverage Indian casinos into the Catskills, top officials reported yesterday.

The strategy features a proposed constitutional amendment omitting the state prohibition on casinos owned by non-Indians.
Last night, Sen. John Bonacic, a Mount Hope Republican angry with postponements in bringing casinos to the Catskills, brought in the amendment legislation.

Officials probe killing of man who burst into Sands Casino - 2004-02-12
Officials are still probing into the death of a Sicklerville man who forced his way into a casino administration building and died after a brawl with guards that was recorded on videotape.

The handcuffed body of Lanier J. Blunt, 29, of Sicklerville, was discovered in the lobby of the Sands Casino Hotel Administrative Offices when police - answering a 911 call from casino security - came, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Jeffrey S. Blitz.
