Ministers could be ready for a change of heart that will put Blackpool at the top of gambling expansion.

But a leading casino foe, Cllr Steven Bate, stated that he was wooried about the development. He stated: "This contradicts a stack of evidence recently accepted by MPs. Experience from overseas indicates casinos will transfer money and jobs from other leisure sectors, from bingo halls, from peoples savings, from bookies, from increased debts, and from the lottery.

Iowa gambling bill could produce 5 licenses - 2004-02-13
Iowa House members revealed Thursday the highlights of a wide gambling expansion bill that could permit up to five new riverboat casino licenses in the state, lift cruising restrictions for the boats and permit table games at racetracks.

Leaders from communities trying to attract new casinos as an economic development device praised the bill, while gambling opponents said it would expand the industry too far.
But new casinos could not be constructed in counties that already have them or within 50 miles of existing state-licensed casinos.
