Casino bid could head close to home, as tribe looks at Shabbona region - 2004-02-13
It used to be that if you sought after the experience of all the glitz and glamour of Las
Vegas, you had to travel and fly to the resort oasis in the Nevada desert. Now, the gambling aspect, at least, is available in locales within the country, including right here in Illinois.

The Tribe proposes to construct the casino and resort on 128 acres of property that it currently has under option. The option property is situated within the borders of its reservation, which is situated on U.S. 30, exactly nine miles east of Interstate 39.

Sides Change on Who Would Supervise Proposed R.I. Casino - 2004-02-13
Two legislative bids for regulating casino gambling in Rhode Island differ over who should be managing the oversight, but outline similar powers for a regulatory body.

Attorney General Patrick C. Lynch has suggested a new paid executive board to regulate casino-style gambling, in tandem with a new branch within his office.
Lynch revealed his casino oversight proposal at a news conference earlier this week, citing it was "an effort beyond timely."
