Tribe generates huge dollars without port's assistance - 2004-02-13
Label me crazy, but I don't want public dollars compensating the Puyallup Tribe of Indians for its gambling losses at the Emerald Queen Casino.
Yet the Port of Tacoma commissioners ruled 5-0 this week to do exactly that.

Even with the defeat of Alexander, the Emerald Queen doesn't figure to "lose" any money. Yet to purchase the tribe's acquiescence, the port was in accord to compensate the tribe up to 10 percent of any reduction in the casino's "net income" for this November and December.

Woman receives $10 million at MGM Grand - 2004-02-13
First a military veteran won a Megabucks slot jackpot just after Veterans Day, then a woman who was born on Christmas Eve won Megabucks shortly before Christmas.

Today, a 49-year-old woman who claimed she dreamed two weeks ago she would win plenty of money did not let the unfortunate Friday the 13th superstition stand in the way of reaching her dream at a Megabucks machine at the MGM Grand hotel.
