Prohibition requested for new casinos - 2004-02-14
The co-owner of the region's biggest employer stated that he intends to end construction of new casinos in Missouri, such as a proposed riverboat in Rockaway Beach.

Peter Herschend, co-owner/co-founder of Silver Dollar City, stated he doesn't want to see any new casinos on the Missouri or Mississippi rivers, the only waterways where gambling is authorized.
Herschend's bid, to lift loss limits at Missouri casinos as a substitute for a prohibition on new casinos, is not a reaction to Rockaway Beach's casino efforts, he stated.

Friday the 13th doesn't distract patrons of A.C. casinos - 2004-02-14
Murray Goldfinger, 76, refuses to gamble without his lucky red ribbon. But he had no problems with playing blackjack on Friday the 13th.
In casinos yesterday, slot machine reels were spinning as usual and die continued rolling, with gamblers either ignoring superstition outright or using it to their advantage.

In Atlantic City casinos, they've been known to wear lucky sweaters, perch tiny troll dolls on their slot machines or stay on the same tactic every time they play a certain machine.
