Acknowledgement link between Virginia tribes, Jamestown party - 2004-02-15
From the beginning, organizers of the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement sought the participation of Virginia's eight American Indian tribes.

Six of the state's eight tribes have been wanting such recognition since 2000, presenting bake sales and yard sales to pay for a lobbyist to press their case. But legislation has been stopped by rivals who fear it would permit casino gambling and the purchase of cheap gasoline on tribal property.

Lawrence Orbe didn't come to the Las Vegas Strip seeking to win big. He didn't come for the strippers or outrageous live shows.
Four months following Orbe's suicide, Gloreah Hendricks, 30, leaped from the ninth floor of the Aladdin hotel-casino parking garage on July 19, 2003.

Her family assumed Hendricks was on vacation in Las Vegas, which she saw as beautiful, claimed her mother, Rosemary Pitts of Montgomery, Ala.
