No more poker machines, groups relay to Bracks - 2004-02-16
The Bracks Government is under pressure to hold the line on the amount of poker machines in Victoria as it readies to examine the electronic gaming and wagering trade.

Religious and welfare groups stated yesterday that they would be severely concerned if the Government's review invited bids that would result in the total of gaming machines increasing above the current cap of 30,000.

Track manager optimistic - 2004-02-16
Geoff Andres, the new general manager at the Wheeling Island Racetrack and Gaming Center, has a candy dish filled with dice in his office.

But before he and other track operators can begin picking felt colors for blackjack tables, they have to wait for the Legislature to displays its hand. But Andres thinks this could be the session when the conversation about table games turns from the hypothetical to the practical.
