Blagojevich takes aim at business tax 'loopholes' - 2004-02-16
Gov. Rod Blagojevich stated Sunday he will ask legislators to end over $300 million with a value of business tax "loopholes" and save $200 million by slashing the number of state workers.
Blagojevich also acknowledged the auction of an unused state-owned riverboat casino license will not have taken place in the current budget year as he had intended.
When the current budget was authorized, critics said parts of it were unreasonable -- especially receiving $350 million by selling a casino permit that has been tangled in court battles for year.
