Sin City 'more popular than Paris' for couples - 2004-02-16
The concept of a Britney Spears-style impromptu marriage has made Las Vegas more fashionable than Paris for this year's Valentine lovebirds.
Bookings for the casino mecca of the world have risen sharply - up 40 percent from Valentine's Day last year, as reported by the travel Web site expedia.co.uk.

Expedia spokesperson Dermot Halpin stated: "Whilst traditional romantic destinations still remain incredibly popular, it seems there are a few high rollers out there swapping Paris for poker.

Stop corporate tax breaks, no service tax - 2004-02-16
Once again attempting to plug a gaping hole in the state budget, Gov. Rod Blagojevich insists he will follow last year's plan of slashing jobs, halting tax breaks and streamlining services.

Blagojevich also recognized the auction of an unused state-owned riverboat casino license will not occur within the current budget year as he had intended. Now he is counting on receiving $350 million from the license in the following budget.
