Boss put casino on market to focus on software - 2004-02-17
Boss Media has sold its Gold Club Casino, to an undisclosed buyer. The news comes on the heels of the sale of its online casino portal Casino.com in fall last year, as part of Boss's policy of concentrating on its core business of software development.

The company had previously decided to get rid of its business to consumer division. Boss will still supply gaming software and related services to the buyer, who has asked to stay unidentified.

Alliance urges Detroit to rebid casino licenses - 2004-02-17
The Community Coalition, which ran an unsuccessful effort in the late 1990s to get a casino license for Detroit businessman Don Barden, plans to make another attempt to get the city to rebid its casino licenses.

The group then would call for the City Council to defend the ordinance and to ask that the city rebid its casino licenses. But because the city has previously signed contracts with three casino owners — Greektown LLC, MGM Grand Detroit and MotorCity — a ballot initiative could not constrain such a ruling and likely would be advisory.
