Judge backs out of SoCal tribe's gambling debate; may intervene later - 2004-02-18
A Superior Court judge declined to make infinite a restraining order that temporarily blocked a move to abolish a group of American Indians from their tribe, part of an arguement over who is granted access to millions in casino profits.

Judge Charles Field claimed Tuesday it was "premature" for the court to intervene, but left open the possibility of deciding on the case later. He did not rule on whether the Superior Court has jurisdiction in the case.

West Virginia Racetrack Casino Gaming Advocates Want Referenda - 2004-02-18
Hancock County residents and officials converged on the Statehouse Tuesday, asking that locals of the four counties having racetracks be given the OK to vote on whether to permit casino gambling.

Advocates say table games, which include card games and roulette tables, would bring the state roughly $60 million on an annual basis.
