Dane County constituents refuse new casino - 2004-02-18
For the Ho-Chunk Nation, $1 million spent attempting to influence Dane County voters to approve transforming its Madison bingo hall into a full-blown Las Vegas-style casino couldn't buy a win.

Residents refused the proposal by a 2-to-1 margin Tuesday, in addition to the $91 million the tribe had committed to paying the city of Madison and the county if the casino went through.

Male Winner Beaten, Robbed After Leaving Casino - 2004-02-18
A man who won $800 at Harrah's Casino Tuesday night was assaulted and robbed after leaving the establishment, KMBC reported.

The victim stated a white man in his 20s offered to take him to meet some women. The victim stated that the man was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed about 150 pounds.
