Harrah's NKC fires 21 slot employees - 2004-02-18
Harrah's North Kansas City Casino laid off 21 slot department staff members, or about 10 percent of the department's work force, a company official said Wednesday.

The casino now has roughly 160 employees in the slot department and more than 1,500 entirely, reported Ted Bogich, senior vice president and general manager.

Clark County gives tribe OK - 2004-02-18
As La Center locals held protest signs and attempted to disrupt proceedings, Clark County commissioners overwhelmingly approved a deal Tuesday with the Cowlitz Indian Tribe to develop land west of Interstate 5 near Exit 16.

The Cowlitz Tribe wants to develop approximately 150 acres east of the La Center exit. Although tribal leaders claim they have no plans for the property, the only conversation throughout the hearing Tuesday and another a week ago was about constructing a casino.
