Opponents tell why gambling is horrible bet for state - 2004-02-19
Expanded gambling, either a casino in Omaha or slots within the state, diverts entertainment dollars from local businesses while the gambling profits go out of state, according to a group of college economists and Nebraska businesspeople who want to debunk the misconceptions surrounding gambling.
A half-dozen expanded gambling proposals that permit casinos and slot machines also are being circulated for constituent signatures, and some or all of them could end up on the November statewide ballot.

Gardena mayor sees glitzy future - 2004-02-19
Gardena has been confronted with some difficult economic times and some heavy challenges, but Mayor Terrence Terauchi told community leaders Wednesday that he is hopeful about the city's future.

"Despite the hurdles and hardships Gardena is facing, we are going to stay the course and reach safe harbor for our city," Terauchi commented at the Normandie Casino.
