Expansion bill goes forward - 2004-02-19
A bill that makes drastic changes to the state's gaming legislation and calls for up to five additional casino licenses was approved by two House committees Wednesday and is scheduled to be debated next week.

The bill resticts the amount of racetrack casinos permitted at the current three, but permits the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to authorize up to five additional floating casinos.

Racino measure moves ahead - 2004-02-19
After hearing warnings that Oklahoma's horse trade is on its last leg, the state Senate voted Wednesday to allow some horse racetracks to operate electronic games now played solely at Indian casinos -- turning the tracks into racinos.

The measure, which would generate over $70 million for education, was authorized on a 30-18 vote and now goes to the House for consideration.
