West Virginia-Based Casino Proprietor to Be Actual Buyer of Binion's Horseshoe - 2004-02-19
In the end, Binion's Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas is being sold not to Harrah's Entertainment, but to Chester, W.Va.-based MTR Gaming Group, which is the owner of the Speedway Casino at the Ramada Inn located in North Las Vegas.

Neither company disclosed Wednesday how much MTR is paying for the downtown property or how many of Binion's approximately 900 former staff members would be rehired.

Tabcorp optimistic on casino wins - 2004-02-19
Huge earnings from its casinos, newfound synergies from its Jupiters acquisition and the declining effect of smoking prohibitions in Victoria has Tabcorp Holdings tipping a 20 to 25 per cent boost in net profit for fiscal 2004, the company reported yesterday.

Synergies from the Gold Coast casino chain are now intending to crack $9.5 million this financial year and $20.5 million in 2005, well ahead of the yearly $10.2 million estimated at the time of the settlement.
