Cato casino succeeds in conquering obstacles - 2004-02-19
With a Wednesday appearance prior to the Mississippi Gaming Commission Florida-based developer Charles Cato has made it past two more hurdles for a second Natchez casino, the Emerald Star, a reality.

The commission supported the site of, and development plans for, the casino. Cato will submit a financing plan to the commission for authorization in March or April.

Tribe purchases first piece of property in Shabbona - 2004-02-19
A Kansas-based American Indian tribe has purchased land within a 1,280-acre region within close proximity to Shabbona that it says it has a 175-year-old historical claim to, more evidence that the tribe is looking to develop the region, possibly with a casino-resort complex.

The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation finalized the purchase of the five-bedroom home on Friday, according to the tribe's Washington, D.C., public relations firm, McCarthy Communications.
