It's just a hill adorned with bush and trees but for Elaine Whitehurst and other members of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, that hill could offer the means for self reliance.

Someday that hill, which spans 4.6 acres of ground, could be the property breeding ground for a three-story casino, including five restaurants, three bars and parking garage.

Earnings get a boost at Blue Chip - 2004-02-02
Over 700,000 fewer patrons gambled at Blue Chip Casino in 2003, but the fall in attendance didn't threaten the casino's take, according to the Indiana Gaming Commission's 2003 annual report.

The recently disclosed report displays admissions at the Michigan City casino in 2003 came in at 2,670,288, 713,974 short of the 3,384,262 recorded entries onto the gambling boat in 2002.
