Senator Seeks To Stop Casino Worker Shuttle - 2004-02-20
State Sen. Edith Prague, D-Columbia, is seeking to eradicate a grant program that helps Hartford-area workers commute to jobs at Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun, debating that it violates a state labor legislation.

The program, funded through the state Department of Transportation's Transportation Strategy Board, spends roughly $400,000 to subsidize bus transportation for employees who cannot afford other forms of travel to the casinos.

MTR Gaming to buy Binion’s, Harrah’s to help run operation - 2004-02-20
Speakeasy Gaming of Fremont Inc., a subsidiary of MTR Gaming Group Inc., proprietor of Mountaineer Race Track in Chester, West Virginia, has reached a deal to purchase Binion’s Horseshoe Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas.

Harrah’s Entertainment Inc., the Las Vegas-based gaming venture that controls Louisiana Downs in Bossier City and one-third of Turfway Park in Florence, Kentucky, will help MTR Gaming run the casino that is home to the World Series of Poker.
