Thomas taken into custody on several counts - 2004-02-20
The 24-year-old who rammed his car into police cars when they approached him Tuesday has been arrested in jail on additional vehicle theft charges.
After driving through a mobile home park and several business parking lots, Thomas parked at the Tamarack Junction Casino on South Virginia Street, police reported.

He drove head-on at two stopped, marked police cruisers, lost control, sideswiped one, and then rammed into a rock planter in front of the casino, police stated.

Veteran columnist Ruthe Deskin had many a shining moment - 2004-02-20
Las Vegas Sun columnist Ruthe Deskin, who died Saturday at age 87, was commemorated Thursday morning as a truly caring person who was fiercely committed to the newspaper and her community.

Deskin was an integral part of the Sun's successful summer camp fund and Youth Forum. She achieved more with a few kind words in her weekly column than half the state's blow-hard politicians combined.
