State conceives appeal of Schaghticoke ruling - 2004-02-21
In spite of pressure to go straight to federal court, Connecticut will rather file an appeal of the Schaghticoke acknowledgement ruling with a U.S. Interior Department review board.

The federal Bureau of Indian Affairs late last month granted the Schaghticokes federal recognition, which is the first move toward developing a casino. The state had 30 days to settle the appeals process with the tribe.
