Supreme Court requests that attorneys clarify gaming lawsuit - 2004-02-21
In a rare motion, the state Supreme Court has requested that attorneys for Gov. Jim Doyle and Republican legislators clarify a GOP lawsuit accusing Doyle of overstepping his authority when he negotiated an amended gambling compact with the Forest County Potawatomi.
The lawsuit, filed by Assembly Speaker John Gard, R-Peshtigo, and Senate Majority Leader Mary Panzer, R-West Bend, stated Doyle didn’t have the authority to allow the tribe add roulette, craps and poker and expand hours at its Milwaukee casino.
