Heading for the gold - 2004-02-22
The trouble started early one morning. The manner the regulars tell it, two women wanted to sit in the lucky seat, the one right behind the driver. On the bus, luck is everything.

The casino runs such free trips every day throughout the Willamette Valley and along the coast, roughly 60 every month. Riders must join the casino's Winners Circle club -- also free -- and call a few days ahead to reserve a spot. Each year, almost 20,000 gamblers take "fun buses," as they're called, to the casino. During the week, almost every rider is a senior citizen.

Fieger turns on Jackson - 2004-02-22
One of the individuals in the photo at right is among the most flamboyant performers in America. The other is a singer.
The picture showed up in the winter issue of the Fieger Times, the official semi-regular newsletter of Fieger, Fieger, Kenney & Johnson.

He claims they were introduced by ex-Detroit cable TV mogul Don Barden, who wanted one of the three local casino permits and trotted out Jackson to help him get it. They revealed an improbable plan that featured a theme park and, if memory serves, a team of magic elves spreading rose petals through the streets of the city.
