Gaming measure's opponents betting on more - 2004-02-22
The disappointment in Garry Winget's voice was apparent last week as he asked the Senate Federal and State Affairs Committee to reject the last sentence of his written testimony.

Under the governor's plan, the state would control up to five "world-class, destination casinos," pari-mutuel tracks would receive 2,500 slot machines and fraternal associations would get up to five slot machines each.

First gambling excursion shows pros, cons of gaming - 2004-02-22
Twin sisters Crystal Rice of Fort Riley, Kan., and Dawn Zoellner of Troy, Mo., had anything but twin results this month at their very first gambling excursion on their 21st birthday.
Rice lost $20 in roughly 20 minutes at the slots — finished for the evening and a little shell-shocked.

Zoeller, also a cosmetology student, was at the blackjack tables minding a constant stream of advice from a friend. They see casinos as just another entertainment alternative.
