Bureau workers swell ranks of tribe urging for casino gambling - 2004-02-22
A once-tiny, almost destitute American Indian tribe is pushing hard to establish a $100 million casino – but it's not conventional tribal associates gunning for wealth.

Regional BIA officials initiated the membership against the traditional leaders' wishes to include associates from two other bands in the region. The federal officials then oversaw an Aug. 10, 2002, election that swapped the old officials for a pro-casino group that includes some of the BIA workers themselves.
