Tribal leader asks for assistance from federal police - 2004-02-22
The man identified by the federal government as leader of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana claims he needs federal police to support him, and fast.

Poncho’s critics want Congress to look into the tribe’s finances. In September, they stated his administration has spent millions of dollars frivolously, cutting the total every member gets from the casino.

State delaying Newtown hospital purchase - 2004-02-22
The process by which the state is getting rid of the Norwich Hospital property is the same as the one being used to transfer an additional former state mental hospital.
But it has taken four years to sell the Fairfield Hills Hospital property to the Town of Newtown, and the deal is still unfinished.

The new effort represents the third effort by the state to identify a possible developer for the 470-acre site along Route 12 that abuts the Thames River across from the Mohegan Sun casino.
