Casino won't be able to pump water - 2004-02-22
The Timbisha Shoshone tribe will have no authority to pump its own water if a casino is constructed within the city limits, according to a legal opinion by a city water rights attorney.
The tribe, which wants to build a casino in Hesperia, will have no special rights to the city's water supply, according to Robert Dougherty, a lawyer with Covington & Crowe, which represents Hesperia.

Anti-casino advocates have argued an independent nation, which the casino may become if authorized by the federal government, will have superior water rights over the city.

WPT Reveals Walk of Fame at Commerce Casino in California - 2004-02-22
