Foundation reveals 'spirit' award recipient - 2004-02-22
Julia Stokes of Maple Avenue has spent her entire life preserving history, and the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation wants to thank her for it.

Serving as the foundation's first executive director after ex-city historian Beatrice Sweeney got her to raise funds for the casino, Stokes helped design historic zoning ordinances, established the Broadway Facade Easement Program and got many of the city's historic districts added to the list on the National Register of Historic Places.

Water supplies re-established - 2004-02-22
Boonville locals yesterday stayed under a health advisory to boil drinking water in the aftermath of a pump replacement Friday on a water treatment plant intake.

The disruption of municipal water service Friday did not gravely hamper city businesses, which opened, as normal, yesterday morning. An official at the Isle of Capri reported the casino also reopened its three restaurants, which had shut down early Friday due to the town’s water shortage.
