New maneuver in attempts to get OK for Tahoe pier - 2004-02-22
Casino lobbyist Harvey Whittemore and liquor merchant Larry Ruvo, ineffective so far in federal court attempts to construct a major pier on Tahoe's upscale Glenbrook Bay, are trying another strategy involving historic property that may inevitably go to Nevada's museum system.

The motion has set off a legal battle in San Mateo County, Calif., Superior Court, where a March 4 hearing is planned on an estate trustee's request to move ahead with the plan for a nearly $1 million, 300-foot pier with up to three boat lifts.

Execution scheduled for convicted tourist murderer - 2004-02-22
A judge has set a time for the execution of a man who admitted robbing and killing a Florida tourist in 1994.

Frank Rosenstock was killed on March 10, 1994, at the Tropicana hotel-casino in Las Vegas. The killing took place after Colwell's girlfriend, Merillee Paul, enticed Rosenstock to his room, then called Colwell to execute a robbery.
