Regional park district has major plans ahead - 2004-02-23
The three-year-old Metro East Park and Recreation District is offering thousands of dollars to communities for park enhancements in Madison and St. Clair counties, but its long-range goals are even larger.
"The focus is on connectivity of bike trails and nature trails, and there is a one-quarter-mile gap from ConAgra Inc. to Riverfront Park" close to the Alton Belle Casino, Drake explained. Once the Riverfront Park master plan is finalized, with a new entrance to the casino lot, there will be no break in the trail, and it will conform to the plan, he stated.
