A legislative bid to set a minimum for horse purses at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino would offer Iowa horse owners stability, but not a windfall, claimed the chairman of Prairie Meadows' board of directors.

Pompano Beach, Fla., Venture Permitted by Judge to Purchase Bankrupt Casino Company - 2004-02-23
A bankruptcy judge on Friday authorized the sale of SunCruz Casinos' assets to a group that features the nephew of Gus Boulis, the Dania Beach company's late founder.

Judge Paul G. Hyman Jr. gave the green light on the $36.1 million purchase to Pompano Beach's Oceans Casinos and Vessel Casinos even though a pair of investors who attended the bankruptcy court hearing in West Palm Beach claimed they were open to pay $43.2 million.
