Public assistance: key to hotel agreement - 2004-02-23
The Portland Development Commission hasn't relinquished hope for constructing a 600-room hotel close to the Oregon Convention Center.

One ideal removed from consideration was a proposal by the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde to construct a casino as part of the hotel. The tribe thought it could make sufficient money from gambling to subsidize hotel operations.
