Vegas Developer Wynn Withdraws From Quest for Illinois Casino - 2004-02-23
Las Vegas developer Steve Wynn and Wynn Resorts Ltd. withdrew this week from a joint venture set up with Chicago developer Neil Bluhm to land the 10th gaming permit in Illinois, the Illinois Gaming Board stated Friday.

Six gaming firms are still chasing the license, including three Las Vegas-based casino operators: Caesars Entertainment, selecting Rosemont for a possible hotel-casino project; Harrah's Entertainment, calling for a casino in northern Waukegan; and Mandalay Resort Group, choosing Summit.

CEO of Casino Operator Keeps Up Fight to Construct Property in Detroit - 2004-02-23
Last week was a very good week for Don Barden. The spotlight shone on him on three various stages.

In Las Vegas, the chairman and CEO of Barden Cos. was treated like a film star as he hosted concerts, cocktail parties and award events in a three-day celebration at his casino, the first ever owned by an African American in Las Vegas.

Barden has been on a roll, collecting plaques and praise within the country. But he still doesn't have the thing he wanted most: a casino in Detroit.
