N.J. pushes casinos to construct hotels - 2004-02-23
Casinos will be given $60 million in the next state budget to keep up hotel construction, according to a newspaper report.
The Press of Atlantic City reported that the money will be derived from incentives built into last year's $90 million casino tax hike.

Parking tax money now will become accessible to the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and will be used as matching funds for hotel projects.

Reno tourism executives emphasize need for variety - 2004-02-23
Promoting Northern Nevada as an adventure playground, enticing more conventions and customized marketing to loyal casino customers are keys to Reno's economic maintenance in the face of increasing competition from tribal casinos, industry leaders stated at a forum last week.

But one panelist at the inaugural Northern Nevada Gaming Summit claimed Reno's days as a gambling draw are long over and efforts to regain lost ground for wagered dollars amount to "fantasized impossible dreams."
