De La Hoya, Hopkins deal arranged for Sept. 18 battle - 2004-02-24
The dates are scheduled and so is the site. Now all promoter Bob Arum requires is to get a signature from middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins to complete his two-fight agreement with Oscar De La Hoya.

Arum stated he finalized a handshake agreement Monday for the MGM Grand hotel-casino in Las Vegas to host a June 5 fight card including Hopkins and De La Hoya in separate fights. If the two win as intended, they will convene Sept. 18 at the MGM for the middleweight title.
