Culinary initiates new attack against Aladdin purchaser - 2004-02-24
In a new shot at Planet Hollywood International Inc. Chairman Robert Earl's bid to purchase the bankrupt Aladdin, Culinary Union officials sent a letter Monday to Nevada gaming regulators charging that the themed-restaurant operator's business record brings up questions over his suitability for licensing as a Nevada casino operator.

The letter is part of the Culinary's organizing campaign, which has been refused by the current Aladdin proprietor and is targeted towards pressuring Earl's group.

Poker king seizes control - 2004-02-24
Shares in Aristocrat Leisure hurled nearly 20 percent greater today after the gaming machine maker booked an annual net loss of $106 million, writing down contracts and business operations.

The losses were derived from a $86.3 million re-evaluation of the carrying value of Las Vegas-based Casino Data Systems - just two years after it was bought for $180 million.
