Fact sheet on casino tribe authorized - 2004-02-24
The Sonoma County Commission on Human Rights authorized a fact sheet Monday that describes the historical background of the Indian tribe proposing a casino in Rohnert Park, insisting it hopes to dispel any myths or misconceptions that may exist about the tribe.

In September, the tribe submitted to the commission a 54-page report that cited letters and e-mails in which some casino foes aimed racial slurs at tribal members and questioned the tribe's legitimacy.

Legislators uncertain casino vote will pass - 2004-02-24
It’s very improbable that Tennessee’s General Assembly will authorize a statewide 2006 vote that could make casino gambling legal in Shelby County, four local legislators stated Monday.

Backers are urging for a Memphis casino to rival with riverboat casinos in nearby Tunica County, Miss. A lobbying team headed by ex-Memphis state Sen. Bill Bruce is working for passage of a casino resolution this session, the first step toward a 2006 vot that would permit voters to decide.
