Casino measure unharmed, but immobile - 2004-02-24
The Legislature rejected a proposed improvement to write into the state constitution language requiring constituent approval for location of a casino in their county. The proposal, authored by Sen. Adrian Smith of Gering, was rejected on a 20-18 count.

Following an hour and a half of debate on the expanded gambling measure, senators graduated on to other legislative business, leaving the casino plan unharmed but immobile for the time being. The measure will be at the head of Monday's legislative outline.

Church estate lures tribal casino and boat retailer - 2004-02-24
Florida's biggest casino operator and one of the world's biggest recreational boat builders have voiced an interest in bidding in the bankruptcy auction for the highly visible Living Water Church property on Interstate 4.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida, with big revenues flourishing into its new Hard Rock Casino less than a mile from the 16-acre church property, is interested in receiving more land for overflow parking.
