Ho-Chunk Nation on the road again - 2004-02-25
Students who were unhappy that casino gambling is no longer an alternative in Madison after the Feb. 17 casino vote may be able to look forward to other developments surrounding the DeJope Bingo Hall.

After a $1 million campaign and a stunning 2-1 loss, the Ho-Chunk Nation claimed they would not pursue a second referendum for the casino in Dane County. Feb. 18, the day after the casino referendum, rumors started circulating that the Ho-Chunk may renew plans around the DeJope Bingo Hall.

Tribe Wants To Generate Income Opportunity With Shop E-Z Purchase - 2004-02-25
The Santee Sioux Tribe's purchase of the Shop E-Z convenience store in South Yankton represents the tribe's first attempt to launch a business off the northeast Nebraska reservation, the tribal chairman stated.

The tribe has run a casino and other efforts on the poverty-stricken reservation in northern Knox County minus the desired financial success, Chairman Roger Trudell explained.
