Clark, horse industry are convening - 2004-02-25
Horse industry officials continued deliberations over expanding gambling in Kentucky behind closed doors today with a top House Democrat.

Rep. Larry Clark of Louisville on Tuesday reported that the gathering would be a follow-up to a previous assembly at which officials agreed to look into his proposal to permit casino-style gambling at businesses other than racetracks.

Feds threaten to make Seminole casinos defunct - 2004-02-25
The federal government has cautioned the Seminole Tribe of Florida to rein in spending by its council members and update its video lottery machines, saying it would close the tribe's casinos if the practices are ongoing.

Casino profits, which represent most of the more than $300 million annual tribal budget, are used to pay each individual in the 3,000-member tribe $42,000 annually. The tribe has casinos in Tampa, Hollywood, Immokalee, Coconut Creek and Brighton.
