Interior Dept., Congress Probes into BIA - 2004-02-25
The Interior Department and Congress' General Accounting Office declared Tuesday they are initiating probes into suspected conflicts of interest featuring officials of the regional office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
As a result, original tribal members have no representatives among the tribe's new leadership, which now is aiming to construct a $100 million, 2,000-slot machine casino in Plymouth, in one of California's fast-growing wine regions.
