Could Barstow be getting casino no. 2? - 2004-02-25
An Anaheim-based developer declared plans Tuesday for a $200 million Indian casino resort on the southern edge of the city, not far from the location of a comparable proposal.

Howard Palmer, president of Superior Development Inc., said his project would bring roughly 1,800 to 2,000 jobs to Barstow. Palmer stated it would include an 82,000-square-foot Indian casino, a hotel, a convention center and a museum, retail shops, a miniature golf course and a nightclub.

Former worker issues lawsuit against casino - 2004-02-25
An ex-staff member at Gold Country Casino in Oroville declares in a $25 million discrimination suit that he was unlawfully let go in part because he pursued legal guardianship of four "half-Indian" children.

Named in the lawsuit are Gold Country Casino, its proprietors, the Berry Creek Rancheria of Tyme Maidu, and the grandmother of the children which Allen was trying to legally care for.
Neither the tribe or the casino returned phone messages Monday or Tuesday seeking comment regarding the lawsuit.
