Developer settles agreement for second casino site in Natchez - 2004-02-25
Casino developer Charles Cato has purchased 21 acres of Mississippi riverfront property for the construction of Emerald Star Casino.
The 87,000-square-foot casino itself would feature 35,000 square feet of gaming space, 800 slot machines and 30 table games. Cato has stated he hopes to launch the casino and renovate the Ramada by November.

The only casino now in Natchez was launched by the Lady Luck Casino in February 1993 and was bought by Isle of Capri Casinos in March 2000.

Casino arriving beside the dogs - 2004-02-25
Birmingham’s fast-growing gambling trade could be bolstered by a new casino alongside the city’s Perry Barr dog track.

Birmingham is currently home to Star City, the country’s largest casino, which is luring up to 1,000 visitors a night. Star City proprietor Stanley Leisure stated that its success has not hit business at its two other Birmingham casinos, the China Palace and the Midland Wheel.
