Gambling development may be in danger - 2004-02-25
As a key gambling debate looms, the top Republican in the Iowa House stated Tuesday that prospects are diminishing for communities that staked their development expectations on new casinos.

House Speaker Christopher Rants, R-Sioux City, disputes that gambling expansion foes have been better coordinated and more vocal than locals of five counties that passed gambling referendums. He stated that those communities have failed to make their case to legislators that more gambling licenses should be granted.

Riverside fundraiser preparing for Saturday - 2004-02-25
Whether its the functionality of chairs or the thrill of gambling that lures people, interest continues to grow in the Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s annual fundraiser scheduled for this Saturday at the Memorial Sports Centre.

Its annual fundraiser this year is in the form of a chair auction and casino. Advance tickets only are being sold for the casino night at $25 each, which are accessible through Hazel (274-4803) or from any associate of the special events committee.
