Dimished slots approval spurs Woodbine to put Hastings Park on the market - 2004-02-25
A suspension in the time it is taking the Vancouver City Council to rule on expanded gaming for Hastings Park has provoked Toronto-based Woodbine Entertainment Group to put the track it acquired only two years ago on the market.

Although Mayor Larry Campbell stated he confirmed the measure to put the from 600 to 900 gaming machines at the track, the council motioned ahead with a plan for slots at a new casino at the Plaza of Nations convention and amphitheater complex in downtown Vancouver, in December.

Expansion is on schedule at Silverton - 2004-02-25
Construction is nearly ready at the Silverton hotel-casino's $100 million expansion at its land at Interstate 15 and Blue Diamond Road.

The concrete under the planned $30 million, 145,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops retail outlet has been poured and steel support structures are in. The project is on schedule for November completion, General Manager Craig Cavileer explained.
