An Anaheim-based developer revealed plans Tuesday for a $200 million Indian casino resort on the southern edge of the city, not far from the location of a similar proposal.

Howard Palmer, president of Superior Development Inc., explained his project would generate an estimated 1,800 to 2,000 jobs to Barstow. Palmer claimed it would include an 82,000-square-foot Indian casino, a hotel, a convention center and museum, retail shops, a miniature golf course and a nightclub.

Indian casino battle will need money, more voices - 2004-02-25
It was a plea for funding and to tell the eight people who showed up that a casino proposed for Shingle Springs off Highway 50 would have a destructive impact on South Shore's economy.
Voices for Rural Living, a civic group, conducted the town hall assembly Tuesday night at Embassy Suites Hotel to make people aware the South Shore gaming trade stands to lose $50 million in annual revenue if the Indian casino is established.

Voices, as well as attorneys appointed by El Dorado County, have issued lawsuits to stop construction of the casino, to be named Foothill Oaks.
