LV firm pledges huge investment with St. Louis project - 2004-02-26
Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. officials stated they'll guarantee over a thousand jobs, a luxury downtown hotel, and invest roughly $250 million into their plan to produce a casino in the city.

The deal reached this week will be the foundation for a final agreement that the city and Las Vegas-based Pinnacle will sign by March 19. The project ultimately will require Missouri Gaming Commission authorization to move ahead.

Illinois license narrowed down to three companies - 2004-02-26
Illinois gaming regulators Wednesday chose Harrah's Entertainment Inc., Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. and Midwest Gaming and Entertainment LLC as the three final bidders for a closely-watched casino license intended to be sold at auction in a few months.

The state enacted the greatest incremental tax on casino revenue in the country last year, but is still coveted by gaming businesses interested in developing within close proximity to Chicago, an international airline hub seen as one of the most potentially profitable casino sites in the nation.
