Wisconsin Tribe Readies 2005 Cut-off Date for Casino - 2004-02-26
If everything is not finalized for the Lac du Flambeau Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa Indians to proceed with its Shullsburg casino by 2005, it will be over, tribal spokesman Carl Edwards informed the Lafayette County Economic Development Committee Tuesday.

For everything to be complete, the tribe requires a signed gaming contract with the state and project support from the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs support.

Kentucky track officials, legislators nearing deal on gaming project - 2004-02-26
Legislation that would permit casino gambling at nine sites in Kentucky, including five racetracks, could be filed as early as Friday by state Representative Larry Clark (D-Louisville), House speaker pro tem.

Churchill Downs, which controls and runs Ellis, has settled to construct its casino in downtown Louisville rather than at its flagship racetrack, the Louisville Courier-Journal reports.
