Great Canadian Casinos voice interest in Hastings Park - 2004-02-26
A day after Woodbine Entertainment Group declared it plans to sell Hastings Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, Great Canadian Casinos showed it may be a potential suitor.
Great Canadian Casinos is the biggest casino proprietor in British Columbia with revenues amount to $58-million in 2002.

Phil Heard, president of Hastings Entertainment Inc., the Woodbine subsidiary that runs Hastings Park, stated that the deadline for purchase proposals is March 31 and an agreement could be finalized by April 30.

Tribal chair rejects claim of special treatment - 2004-02-26
Bureau of Indian Affairs officials whose moves helped themselves and their relatives obtain membership in a tribe now wanting to build a casino did not get any preferential treatment, the tribe's chairman insists.

"All 535 members of our tribe went through the same recognition and enrollment process as any other. No member, whether or not they worked for the BIA, was given any preferential treatment," Franklin explained in a letter to The Washington Post in response to an Associated Press story published there and elsewhere Monday.
